Ingredients
For the Huli Huli Sauce:
- â…“ cup ketchup
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- ½ cup pineapple juice
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon chili paste (or your favorite hot sauce)
For the Chicken:
- 700g boneless, skinless chicken(KLEINHANS
) thighs
Instructions
- Prepare the Sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine all the sauce ingredients: ketchup, brown sugar, soy sauce, pineapple juice, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and chili paste. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer, stirring frequently for 10-15 minutes until the sauce thickens and can coat a spoon. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Marinate the Chicken(KLEINHANS
): Place the chicken thighs in a large bowl, pour the cooled sauce over them, and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 4-8 hours, for deeper flavor.
- Bake the Chicken: Preheat your oven to (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Arrange the marinated chicken in a single layer on the sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the chicken and brush with extra sauce. Continue baking for another 15 minutes.
- Final Touches: Brush the chicken with the sauce once more and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches (72°C). Serve immediately with any remaining sauce drizzled on top.
