Meet the Farmer Alwyn Kleinhans
Our Start
The farm, about 10km outside of Cullinan, is owned and managed by Alwyn and Margaux Kleinhans – with Alwyn handling all operational and financial aspects, while Margaux oversees the marketing and orders. Full-time flock man, Sadid, oversees the well-being of the chickens.
The farm started off by supplying standard farm fresh chicken to private households. Over time, however, they realised the public need for affordable, trustworthy, free range chicken products, and thus Kleinhans Free Range Chicken was born.
Our Facts
After extensive research, we have all the requirements for free range chicken-feed.
The feed is certified to contain none of the following:
• Routine antibiotics
• Hormones
• Antibiotic Growth Promoters (AGP’s)
• Coccidiostats
• Animal by-products
• Fish meal
Kleinhans-chickens are humanely slaughtered at an abattoir registered in terms of the Meat Safety Act (No. 40 of 2000). The meat is frozen within 24-36 hours after receipt from the abattoir and stored in big walk-in freezer facilities on the farm, ready for delivery.

Grown With Love on Our Farms
Alwyn is a firm believer in humane farming methods, and each conventional broiler house is extended with an open-air camp, which allows for the chickens to roam freely. Because the chickens are not force-fed, they have a life-span of seven weeks, whereas chickens raised for commercial demand mostly only live five weeks. Kleinhans Free Range Chicken is currently able to process every week, delivering to Johannesburg and Pretoria on a weekly basis. Each broiler house is allowed a resting period of two weeks in-between batches.
And the LORD will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail. - Isa 58:11 ESV
